The First Profession of Three Students

Formation for missionary religious life passes through several stages. The most important step, without doubt, is what we call the novitiate year. During this year, the young man spends long hours in prayer and reflection, allowing the Lord to reveal to him what He desires. By the end of the novitiate, the novice will usually have a clearer sense of his vocation and be ready to take temporary religious vows.

We give thanks to God that on July 27 three young men reached this important step of temporary vows: Br. Jose Maria Lizana and Br. Leandro Puma (both from Peru), and Br. Michael Sy Huong from Vietnam.

The celebration of their profession took place at the Formation House in Manila. Present were the MSSP community, Pauline lay missionaries, a number of friends of Jose Maria, Leandro, and Michael, and some relatives of Br. Michael. These young men will now continue their formation through studies in Philosophy or Theology. They will also continue to renew their vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and missionary service until, God willing, they reach perpetual profession, when they will commit themselves for life to our Missionary Society.

Let us keep Brothers Michael, Jose Maria, and Leandro in our prayers, asking the Lord to grant them the gift of perseverance.

We pray God’s blessing upon them.
