Visit of Gozo Bishop Anton Teuma to Sydney and Melbourne

The pastoral visit of Bishop Anton Teuma to Australia began in Sydney on 4 October, where he celebrated Mass at the parish of Greystanes, followed by a visit to La Vallette Club. He then travelled to Melbourne, where he celebrated Mass at the Ta’ Pinu Shrine in Bacchus Marsh. Later he visited the Maltese Cultural Centre in Albion, where another Mass was held.

On Sunday 5 October, the Bishop celebrated Mass at St Paul’s Church in Kealba, assisted by Fr Lonnie Borg MSSP, who regularly serves the parish. The Bishop continued with several visits including Rosary Home in Keilor Downs and the Ghana Club in St Albans. His final day, 7 October, began with Mass at St Bernadette Parish in North Sunshine, celebrated with MSSP priests, followed by an afternoon visit to the MSSP Provincial House in Parkville. The visit concluded with a community gathering at the Maltese Centre in Melbourne, located within the MSSP complex in Parkville.

Fr Daniel Grech, who accompanied the Bishop, noted that the visit strengthened the spiritual and communal ties among the Maltese and Gozitan communities in Australia. Gratitude is extended to Bishop Teuma, and to Mr Tony Bonello and Mr Joe Borg for organising and supporting the visit.
