Perpetual Profession of Br. Augusteen in Pakistan

Saturday, 5 July, was a special day for the Missionary Society of St. Paul in Pakistan, as members gathered to witness the perpetual profession of Br. Augusteen Maseeh. This milestone marks one of the most important moments in the life of a member of the Society. On this day, the professed pledges to imitate Jesus in poverty, chastity, and obedience—the virtues He lived among us. In this way, these ideals are no longer simply beautiful words in Scripture, but become flesh and blood in their daily life.

Such a decision is never made hastily. Br. Augusteen joined the Society nine years ago. Only after a long journey of experience and discernment, truly understanding what this life entails, was he ready to take this final step and commit himself to this calling for the rest of his life.

The celebration was deeply moving for everyone present, especially for Br. Augusteen as he shared moments from his journey. He recalled the day he told his family about his desire to follow this path. With great generosity, they set aside their own dreams for him and accepted this as a call from God—even though it was a significant sacrifice for them. He also expressed gratitude for all those who supported him along the way.

Present for the occasion were his parents, siblings, relatives, many friends, and members of the parish community. Guests attended in great numbers, even though many had to travel up to six hours by car from distant areas to reach our parish in Lahore.

In addition to Fr. Pierre and Fr. Gerard, the celebration was attended by Fr. Bernard Mangion and Br. Dominic from Malta, as well as Fr. Bernard Falzon and Br. Bryan from the Philippines.

We pray for Br. Augusteen, that he may remain steadfast in his vows. We also pray that more young people will respond generously to the Lord’s call. The future of this mission depends on such dedicated hearts.
